Boise Coppers Unveil Anti-Theft Web Site

Good Idea Stymied by Poor Technical Implementation

Boise thief exits a store after shoplifting

Boise Police and Ada County Sheriff's Office announced a new website today intended to give citizens the opportunity to identify suspected shoplifting suspects.

The new site is a blast to browse through--who doesn't enjoy flipping through surveillance photos of sketchy-looking shoplifters in action? Thing is, the site doesn't work unless it is viewed with Internet Explorer, so those of us using the very popular FireFox web browser are apparently out of luck.

We know it's hard for city officials to get with the times and understand this whole intarweb thing, but damn, it's kind of a big deal when you lock out over 40% of all web users. Especially here in Boise, where our tech sector is thick and that percentage may be even higher.

So, if you don't mind firing up Internet Exploder to view the pics, then we hope you help catch some petty thieves!
